Privacy Policy for MoonSight

Effective Date: June 22, 2026

Introduction Syed Abdulwahab Shah (Syed Abdulwahab Shah) built the MoonSight app as a specialized astronomical and religious utility. This service is provided at no cost and is intended for use as is. This page is used to inform users regarding our policies on the collection, use, and disclosure of personal information and device permissions. By choosing to use MoonSight, you agree to the collection and use of information in relation to this policy.

Information Collection and Use For a seamless and accurate experience while using our service, the app requires specific device permissions to function correctly. MoonSight is designed with privacy in mind. The data accessed by the application is processed locally on your device and is not transmitted to, collected by, or stored on our servers.

Camera Access The core functionality of MoonSight involves Augmented Reality and smart optical filters to locate the moon accurately. To provide these features, the app requires access to your device camera. This permission is used exclusively for live tracking, image processing, and rendering visual enhancements directly on your screen. We do not capture, secretly record, or upload any photos or video feeds to any external databases.

Location Services (GPS) To generate highly precise astronomical calculations, provide the 3D position of the moon, and apply scientific visibility standards such as the Yallop or Odeh criteria, MoonSight needs to know your precise geographical location. Your GPS data is utilized strictly in real-time to compute the specific moon sighting variables for your area. We do not track your location history, nor do we share your geographic coordinates with any third-party advertisers or organizations.

Bluetooth and Wi-Fi Connectivity MoonSight features advanced integration capabilities that allow users to connect their mobile devices directly to professional digital telescopes. To establish this hardware communication for auto-alignment and tracking, the app requests Bluetooth and Wi-Fi permissions. These network connections are utilized solely to create a secure, local bridge between your phone and your telescope. No personal information is transmitted over the internet through these connections.

Data Security We deeply value your trust in granting these permissions. Because MoonSight operates primarily as a localized tool, your sensitive data remains on your device, drastically reducing the risk of unauthorized access. We employ commercially acceptable security measures to ensure that the app operates safely. However, please be aware that no method of electronic storage or internet transmission is completely flawless.

Third-Party Services The app relies on built-in operating system APIs for location and camera services. We do not integrate third-party data harvesting tools or tracking software into MoonSight. Any external libraries used for astronomical calculations are self-contained within the app.

Changes to This Privacy Policy We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time to accommodate new features, technological advancements, or legal requirements from the Google Play Store. You are advised to review this page periodically for any changes. We will notify you of any significant updates by posting the new Privacy Policy within the application. All changes become effective immediately upon posting.

Contact Us If you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions regarding this Privacy Policy or the technical operations of the MoonSight app, please feel free to reach out to the developer,

Syed Abdulwahab Shah
